September//Summer 1995
It's still summer, but fall is quickly approaching. This year, it seems like autumn is to arrive early, what with it being chiller than usual. It's not cold enough to take a heavy coat around, but be sure to have a light sweater in tow. The weather has been unpredictable lately.

Ella skipped down to the lake humming along to a tune from one of the Weird Sisters's latest albums. Tightly clasped in her hand was a bag of meat. Anyone watching her right now might think she was going to eat it,but oh no this wasn't for her. It was in fact for the giant squid. She didn't think the thing was monstrous at all. She upturned the bottom of her parents and stepped into the lake. She tossed the meat peices long and far. "There you go giant squid,I hope you enjoy that meal."Ella said.

Brynn was a bit of an observer. Most people would probably think she was a little strange, but she really loved people. She tended to follow them when they weren't looking. Just to see what was going on. When one of her fellow Hufflepuffs headed out of the castle with a bag of meat, she was intrigued. She followed behind the girl as quietly as possible just to see what was going on. Her eyes widened when the girl stepped into the lake. She laughed a bit when she saw what the girl was doing. "And here I thought I was the only one who ever did that," she admitted, walking down to the edge of the lake. Brynn had, in fact, been known to feed the squid a time or two.

Ella threw the last piece of meat into the lake. She then whirled around and saw she was not alone. "Did you say something?"Ella asked. "I was sort of out of it when I was feeding my friend here. I do find the giant squid quite tame really."She smiled,she loved people and was glad she wasn't alone. "I'm Ella Stone by the way but you can call me Ell or whatever."

"Brynn Ross. Nice to meet you. And I happen to think the squid is a pretty good friend," she agreed, rolling up the legs of her pants so that she could join the girl in the water. She took a couple of tentative steps, but the water was so cold that she really didn't want to go very far in. "You're in my house, aren't you?" Brynn asked. She was kind of blunt lately, and she wondered if the girl recognized her at all.

"I'm glad someone agrees. I also like the Mandrakes-very cute."Ella said. She was content to find another person that shared her love of animals. Most other people found her weird because she loved everything. "Yes,I know I'm in your house. I've been very busy lately though. I need to bring my marks up higher for next year when I write my NEWTS. I need good marks to become an auror."She said in answer to what Brynn asked next. Being an auror was Ella's life long dream,nothing was going to stand in her way of getting to live that dream. Ella then did what no one in their right mind,especially in sepetember,she dove straight underneath the water.
